How has your quarantine situation been going? What are you doing to keep busy? What are you looking forward to most when the COVID-19 quarantine has been lifted?

One thing I have been doing is listening to PODCASTS! Even more than music, believe it or not! One of my favourites so far has been “In Charge With DvF.”

So Who Is DvF?

We are talking about the queen of the wrap dress! The fashion pioneer and female liberation icon otherwise known as Diane von Furstenberg. DvF’s wrap dress epitomizes the spirit of the 1970s. “She first created her now-iconic wrap dress in 1972, when she saw Julie Nixon Eisenhower on television wearing one of her wrap tops with one of her skirts — and decided to combine the two garments into one” (Sowray, Bibby for British Vogue). Diane was initially married to a prince prior to designing clothing and really did not have the need to work. She has been quoted as saying that she felt compelled to design out of the desire for independence. She didn’t just want to be someone’s person, she wanted to be her own person. This quest for identity outside of marriage (or “the home”) was even more impactful as her outlook was incendiary, especially during that revolutionary era in history. Her entire life story — designs included, has given strength to females everywhere. To date, she hosts the DvF Awards which highlights her philanthropy, and celebrates other women who are effecting change around the globe. She also received the Chevalier de la Legion D’Honneur from Christine Lagarde in Paris this past February, and recently hosted an Oscars party for all of the female nominees! If you haven’t heard about DvF definitely give her podcast a listen, she is an incredible woman.

Conclusion

Diane von Furstenberg is absolutely unstoppable! Listening to her respective experiences, coupled with fresh interviews featuring women in total power, has been so motivating!

We could all use a little motivation right now, right?

(And to answer some of the questions from earlier, incase you were curious…)

I have been writing blog posts (hey hey hey), planning future content, executing pre-production activities, going on runs with my pup, chatting on the phone with friends, binge watching the Mary Tyler Moore Show, eating sweet treats, and sleeping in a little late. I am looking forward to walking around Los Angeles and visiting all the fun places that I have tucked away on a list. I am also very much looking forward to finishing my Fashion Design degree this June and walking in graduation this September.)

Talk to me, talk to me, talk to me babyyyy<3

Comment or DM me on IG so we can chat it up! Stay safe<3
