Budding Digital Designer Spotlight: Moses Angel AKA Yung Chamoy the Sauce Gawd
Today’s blog post features an up and coming multimedia designer with a plethora of vision. Someone who is able to dissect culture on the molecular level to create dramatically new and interesting pieces. His flare for aesthetics is evident with every outfit or media that he creates. I am so pleased to introduce you to budding designer (and thrift king) Moses Angel, also known as @chamoy3500! Take it away, my friend!

Tell us about yourself!
Moses Angel: “Sheeeeeeessshhh!! I’m Yung Chamoy the Sauce Gawd.”
“That ugly boy with the Drip. I’m trying to edit photos, videos, and fashion. Spread those vibes people fuck with and make people laugh. I also went through a soundcloud rapper phase. Above all, I am the manz that will go thrift shopping with the ladies. Say lesssss!! I’m your guy. Shawty if you got that vibe that I fuck with, forsure you’re getting this heart. I will give you all of that luv and affection around the clock, be your hype man, your support, and let you know that I am here for you!

Is there something that people would be surprised to learn about you?
Moses Angel: “I bet y’all didn’t know that I could do a cartwheel. I'm pretty big, but I can move. So shawty if you ever need a dance partner for that quinceanera or carne asada, I gotchuuu. Besides listening to rap, I like to listen to city pop because that gets down. I also luv to listen to piano, bossanova, oldies, Italian music, and opera.”
Where are your favourite places to thrift?
Moses Angel: “My go to place is Goodwill. On Gawd, you can find the Drip there! Half of my closet comes from Goodwill! Steinmart is also a good place, it ain’t a thrift store but you can find some pieces. Shoutout to my mom for putting me on that wave!”
Do you have a thrifting game plan? How do you execute it when you’re on-the-go?
Moses Angel: “When I pull up, I always look for white Vans because there was one time where I actually got lucky and copped these pretty clean white Vans. From there, I head to the jackets and hoodies. I always look for a color that I don’t already have in my closet. Then I go onto the shirts and cop, but I’m trying to cut down because I have too many shirts. I need a new clothes rack because I’m coppin’ so much! I’m running out of space. When I’m on the hunt in the rack, I quickly slide clothes over, probably take one to two seconds and then just move on.”
Who are your favourite designers? Why?
Moses Angel: “There are so many designers out there to choose from. For example, Milton Glaser created designs for Mad Men, Bob Dylan, and many other entities. He always produced that psychedelic look with his designs, it makes you feel like you are in the 60s. He also created the I❤️NY logo, the most iconic NY design out there. I’m currently in a history of design class, so I did my research. In this generation, my favorite designer is wakeupzuzi because he is too slick with it. He creates the most beautiful pieces I have ever seen. He creates pieces that mix George Condo and bring back nostalgia by including the 2000s. I hope to be like him and if I get better at everything, hope to work with him. Nothing but respect for this designer!”
Are you into style trends or personal style? Why?
Moses Angel: “I used to be into style trends, like when joggers came out. I was on that wave but now I don’t really like the trends that make your legs look skinny. I prefer the baggy look. I am addicted to white Vans high tops tho. Well I’m not sure if my style is super unique, I just wear whatever I like. I wear stuff that I know people don’t have in their closets. There are many times where I got that color coordination on point. I don’t buy that expensive stuff because I ain’t ballin out like that. Yet! 👀 That's why I go thrifting and shopping in the clearance because the Drip doesn't have to be expensive. The Drip could be cheap but you add value to it.”
How do you look at the world of design?
Moses Angel: “It’s evolving, Technology is making a big impact. You know there are those tech fits and fits that be lookin mad futuristic. Technology makes it easy to connect with anyone. There was this one time where I was hanging out with DJ Khaled... Easier to show off your fits and talents . Easier to edit photos and express yourself. Platforms like Tik Tok create trends like Eboys and VSCO girls. Celebrities like ASAP Rocky create trends. People are wearing striped t-shirts thinking they are ASAP Rocky. They also be out here wearing construction gear n thinking it’s drip because of ASAP Rocky. Like Bruh ASAP Rocky really did that. Wild. ASAP Rocky could pull off anything though. No Cap!”
What is your design ethos?
Moses Angel: “You know, I think everyone got the drip or the sauce. You just gotta open the can and pour out the sauce on your lifestyle. The sauce is nice to have because it’s what adds character to your personality. The sauce adds flavor. Like you can’t go to Canes or Chick Fil A and not ask for sauce. If you eat your food plain, that means you a boring ass person. Something like that lmao.”
What are your most important goals for the coming year?
Moses Angel: “Being able to finally drive so I can go places, learn how to master time management, cuff a boo, get a glow up, keep adding to my closet, chase that bag, learn how to edit videos, and go out and live every moment even if I regret it, because fuck it — that’s another story to share for another time!”
