Custom Disney Dress for Erin of @BraidsandBigEarrings!

Today’s post is all about the custom Disney dress I (hand) made for Erin of @braidsandbigearrings on Instagram. Erin is a plus sized Disney style guru with an emphasis on Disney bounds, body positivity and mom-hood! Definitely check her out as she is so inspiring and adds a welcome authenticity to the platform. Anytime that I see her posts it genuinely brightens my day and I look forward to her ingenuity in terms of creativity and outlook. Not to mention she is a true California girl with the world’s most adorable family!

I honestly love all of Erin’s bounds but her pink ones are absolutely divine! This Disneyland photo was posted around the time that we decided to collaborate and meet to plan our custom, or couture Disney dress made just for her!
The concept…
Upon initially sketching the idea for Erin’s Disney dress, we knew that we wanted pink and/or red to be the focal point of the colour scheme
I visited the Disney Dress Shop at Downtown Disney to look at what they currently offered and really just “poke around” (for lack of a better term) for any holes in the marketplace
After some market research, we not only wanted to utilize fabric and pattern in an innovative way, like the dresses at the Disney Dress Shop, but we wanted to do away with the ultra classic sweetheart-neckline-poodle-skirt silhouette of nearly all the dress available
We did want to keep it nostalgic, or classic in silhouette without it being super 50s
We also wanted to incorporate removable details (sleeves) so that the dress always felt new and exciting / sustainable
Due to the COVID outbreak we also decided to create a matching mask, because nothing says style like a fully coordinated LeWk
Erin @braidsandbigearrings was the main inspiration behind the dress, regardless of the research we wanted it to be true to her whimsical and Genuine lifestyle!
