(I honestly can’t express to you how gorgeous Malena Ruth’s designs are. My mini baguette bag from her line is a mainstay in my closet. I usually don’t wear a black handbag, but I adore hers and wear it often! Her masks are just as good. I have her Pleated Melon Splash Mask and Indigo Mask. My sister Veronica has her Glamour Noir Mask! It goes without saying that it is stunning on her!)
Malena Ruth of Malena Ruth Designs doesn’t follow trends. She is innovative and looks well beyond the horizons of what the status quo for fashion or style is. Her philanthropic luxury fashion house is one that has remained steadfast with its mission to support women and children in Africa; she is where the industry is headed. Luxury goods that aren’t just pretty, they pack a punch. Designing and shopping ones values are hallmarks to her success. Malena’s intricate, delicate, yet simple designs reflect effervescent femininity and timeless elegance. Click HERE to read my first spotlight on Malena Ruth Designs, and get to know her better. Kevan Hall is an illustrious fashion designer known for his red carpet ensembles and for his reinvigoration of the Halston brand. Hall is also a FIDM alumna and co-founder of the Black Design Collective, also known as BDC. The Black Design Collective is a network of black designers who provide mentorship, business resources, and an annual scholarship opportunity to designers of colour who are engaged in the fashion, design, costuming, and entertainment concentrations. It is a fabulous organization who really develops the next generation of designers. Kevan Hall also sells his masks on ETSY! Hall and Ruth were recently able to collaborate to sew sleeve extensions into hospital garments in order to further safe guard front line workers in the medical setting. With a serendipitous fabric donation from FIDM, Hall and Ruth not only provided the necessary additional covering, but lifted the spirits of those in our community who are serving the most vulnerable against COVID-19.
