Los Angeles Designer Spotlight: Malena Ruth Design
I was fortunate enough to meet the compassionate, fabulous, and spirited Malena Ruth of Malena Ruth Design earlier this year. During our first encounter she provided wonderful information in regards to the ethos behind her brand, and the unique qualities of her aesthetic. It was awe inspiring to learn that a portion of her profits are given back to support women and children in Africa! She created her brand to support females of all ages in their quest for education; sending these females to school is a major proponent to her namesake label. The tapestry pieces (that are statements and elements in her work) are hand embroidered (or beaded) in Africa, with Italian leather finished in Los Angeles, California. Her personal story, philanthropic work, and the intricacy of her designs was (and remains) an absolute marvel. She has a gorgeous collection of handbags and jewelry that are equally trendy and timeless. Versatile and ethically minded, Malena Ruth instilled the fact that she offers something for every style. Upon reuniting with her at the Black Design Collective’s first annual pop up shop at the FIDM Museum / FIDM Museum Shop, I remained enchanted with her brand and never forgot the kindness that exuded from Malena. She updated me on her current goals for her philanthropic design house; which included apparel and a hopeful new segment at LA Fashion Week. After meeting her house model, Kennedy Zimet and discussing her latest collection pieces, I was gifted this darling embossed Italian leather mini handbag. Complete with a vintage inspired silhouette, sparkly enclosure, flexible strap, and vivid contrast lining; it is the epitome of quality.
Here’s a first look at how I styled my Malena Ruth Design mini baguette bag:
My Marciano gloves, vintage Dior sunglasses, Dior Blush compact, Chanel lipstick, faux over sized pearl necklace, and the stunning Malena Ruth mini baguette bag!
Goodness, I just love a beautiful flat lay. Don’t you? When it comes to vintage, I truly believe that more is more. My sincerest gratitude to Malena (not just for this exquisite gift), but for bring a true reminder that the world is full of good people. People whose natural instincts are to design a better tomorrow, today. Thank you Malena! If you are looking for an exceptionally crafted statement handbag, definitely support Malena’s philanthropic artistry!
