Fashion Design Inspiration: True Royalty TV

AD | As a designer, inspiration is essential. One never knows where or when it may strike! It could be the bulbous drops of morning dew on a window sill, or the way an afternoon shadow hugs the perky ears of a furry husky friend. It is the flowering seeds of an idea or this sort of “design thinking” that invigorates designers of all stripes. In fashion, inspiration is the spirit behind a collection that has the potential to invigorate the entire industry. British fashion design is as inspirational, provocative, and relevant as ever. From Mary Quant to Alexander Mc Queen, Tommy Nutter and the tailors of Savile Row, to Stella McCartney and back again. The Parisians may think that they have it all, but the English can definitely show us all a thing or two.

British couture has steadfastly proven to be a strong presence in my design journal…

Another inspirational resource has been the True Royalty TV app. I have constantly been using it to review the style evolution of Princess Diana, or Shy Di as she was once known. I’ve always loved that nickname for her. Princess Diana’s inherent sense of personal style, couture dressing, and the couturiers behind some of her iconic looks are fascinating. The app has a variety of programs, there is another which features an inside look at the wardrobe of Duchess Meghan Markle. If you admire British style as much as I do, or want the deets on royal families around the globe, this app is for you!
