how it started & how it's going
The photo on the left was taken in the wee hours of Dec. 20, 2016. I was shaking, and not from the freezing temperatures in Alberta, Canada. It was the sheer exhaustion, anxiety, and adrenaline pumping through my entire being that made me shake like a leaf. I was so scared, especially because I had just spent the last six months working three jobs, often with single-digit hours of rest per day. I had no idea what would happen next, all I knew was that every step had pivoted towards new possibilities in the California sunshine. I had dreamt of living in California ever since I can remember. I had been enamored with classic rock, the Summer of Love, and Surf City USA; I just knew something was waiting for me in California. I would reassure myself of this as I slept in my car between shifts or while snacking on food to stay alert at 4 a.m.
Throughout my time in California, a lot has gone right, and honestly, so much has gone wrong. However, with some reflection, I know that you may be shaking like a leaf with something in your life too. Please know that the only person who could ever stop you from realizing your dreams is you. The minute you let yourself believe that you aren’t capable, that is exactly what you’ll be. You can achieve anything that you set your mind to, as long as you execute. There will be naysayers, there will be opinionated people, but as long as you fiercely believe in yourself - you can accomplish it all. The first step is just to believe, the second is to have a plan, the third is to execute, and so forth!
I have witnessed people wither away because they believed that they were out of options, that they couldn’t evolve or grow. This is a fallacy, your being KNOWS NO BOUNDS! If you take anything away from this message please let it be that you are capable, you are worthy, and that you deserve everything that you want in your life.
Every holiday season I stop to reflect on how much has gone on since the last holiday season. The holidays truly mark some momentous occasions in many lives. For me, this moment of leaving everything behind (during the holidays) was monumental, but I made it through. I want you to know that whatever you may be battling is worth it and that you will make it through too.
