Meet Alyssa Jordan of Alyssa Jordan Photography! | Advice for Budding Entrepreneurs!

What does bravery mean to you? How courageous are you in your everyday life?

I often think about moments when I have had to muster every molecule of strength in my reservoir to be brave and take leaps without fully understanding the outcome. While there are some moments where the outcomes were unfathomably bad, they have offered such unique perspectives that I can see the leap was well worth the risk.

Often, we won’t try new things or get out of our comfort zones because we perceive the risks as all-consuming or we’re afraid of failure. Today’s blog is about a fearless woman who defies the odds and marches to the beat of her own drum. She takes risks and uses her experiences as fuel for her ambition. She’s always a few steps ahead in the pursuit of her goals, and I hope that after reading this blog you take a step or two, or even many, towards your next courageous moment!

Rewarding life experience is seldom gained through complacency!

Meet Alyssa!

Tell us about yourself and your latest endeavours!

@lyssjordan: “Hello, my name is Alyssa Jordan I just recently moved to the LA community within this last year from Reno NV.  I initially made the move because my amazing partner got his dream job after college to build race trucks, so we made the move. As a photographer it was hard to leave a place where I was from and networking was so easy, but I knew with my bubbly personality and welcoming energy I would find what I was looking for. A community to call my own! My biggest goal is to connect with others and be able to share my talents of photography by capturing other’s passions through photos. I’m a BIG sucker for love so wedding photography is a big part of my life, but I do capture a little bit of everything.”

What are you grateful for right now, at this moment?

@lyssjordan: “I’m so grateful to have the opportunity to meet so many different walks of life and listening to others point of views or perspectives. I’m also so grateful that my job allows me to do so.”

How did you get your start as a photographer?

@lyssjordan: “I started my photography career as a side hustle! I was working as a manager at a coffee job for about 5 years before I decided to make the big jump of going full time. I invested in my own camera and had a general gist on how things worked, but nothing perfected. So, I came up with the idea of taking on 3-4 sessions for free for 1 month. This would allow me to test my ability, show others my work, and to get my name out there in the community. By the end of that month not only was I booking but I had learned so much about my camera & how I wanted to represent my brand. I wanted anyone individual to feel so loved & comfortable in front of the camera. I want each person to be their unique self & be fully encouraged to express their personality.”

@lyssjordan

How would you describe your photography style?

@lyssjordan: “My photography style has an artsy vibe mixed with warm tones and filmy. I also love being different and trying new things. Be beautifully bold & outrageously adventurous.”

When do you feel most inspired to take photos?

@lyssjordan: “There are moments in life you just can’t relive again. Those first-time feelings & emotions when you find out you’re pregnant, or that feeling of being engaged, how about that feeling of your little ones only being little for so long. Those are the moments I feel most inspired to be a photographer. To just freeze time, capture that small moment in life that can be saved for a lifetime.”

Where is your favorite place to take photos in California?

@lyssjordan: “Favorite place to take photos in SoCal? Gosh, well that’s a hard one. There is sooooo many beautiful places to take amazing photos. If I was to pick one place, I would go to a spot in Malibu Hills overlooking the ocean. It gives off the mountain & ocean vibes all in one. “

Where is your favorite place to take photos in Nevada?

@lyssjordan: “In Nevada always Lake Tahoe!!! You truly can’t get any better than those blue tones Lake Tahoe gives off.”

When did you start your photography business?

@lyssjordan: “I have been doing photography for about 3 years and full time for 1.5 years now.”

What advice do you have for fellow entrepreneurs?

@lyssjordan: “Stop questioning yourself just go into it with every ounce of your being. Have the confidence you are going to get what you are looking for. It’s truly a mindset with everything you do, by believing in yourself that you are set out to accomplish what you are looking for you are bound to do so. Step out of your comfort zone and push limits the of yourself that you didn’t know you had. YOU ARE MADE UP OF SO MUCH MORE THAN YOU THINK!”

You’re a world traveler, what’s been your most memorable travel experience?

@lyssjordan: “I have been to many places, but my most memorable experience has been Thailand. I was only there for 4 days but what made it most memorable was going to an elephant rescue camp where we fed and walked the elephants. I think why this was so memorable was because we found a way to serve. When you go out of your way to make a difference in other’s lives or in this case help the elephants there comes a sense of purpose.”

Do you have a daily routine? What keeps you thriving during stressful times?

@lyssjordan: “DAILY ROUTINE?!? Oh yeah, in detail I wake up in the morning take my vitamins make my coffee from my amazing Nespresso also take my greens, read at least 10 pages of a self-help book. Set alarms on my phone to drink a gallon of water every day. Ice roll my face to depuff all the lymphatic drainage out of my face. Then I put my cute workout outfit on to either go on a run with the pup or gym to lift. I try & workout at least twice a day, if not than at least a run. If I have a shoot, I prepare for that and if not then I edit my life away. Editing can be hard for me especially if its daytime and I have to be in a dark room, I feel like I waste my day away if I’m behind my computer so it’s important for me to exercise to get my energy out and soak up some Vitamin D. I like to enjoy my nights cooking dinner at home with my family.”

How would you describe your personal style?

@lyssjordan: “Athletic wear, trucker hat, comfortable but cute. & always MATCHING!! If I’m not in athletic wear I’m wearing light wash jeans with a cute crop top and a flat brim hipster hat.”

Which item in your wardrobe feels most like “you?” Why?

@lyssjordan: “LOVE my 501 levi’s light wash jeans. The only jeans I have made holes in because I wear them do much and didn’t buy them with holes!! Lol Also love my algin crop tank tops from lulu lemon. Natural colors black & white. I sometimes like to add a pop of 1 color into my outfit to stand out.”
