Skincare Review!
Thanks to @yais_hazeline, I recently posted a call-out on Instagram asking whether y’all were more of makeup or skincare aficionados. A resounding amount of the total responses said… SKIN CARE or BOTH! I have been on a serious skin care kick lately, and noticed that even on those running behind schedule days, the skin care is still centre stage. It seems that you’re like that too, so what are your current favourite beauty products? How important is it to you to ensure that they make it onto your face everyday? I’m able to pack on these specific products in about 10 minutes and be out the door, or at least feeding my baby boy Alpha, or moving onto the next thing… I also love that they work in any climate, a lot of these items have been tested in the dry winter climate (read:tundra) of western Canada. If you’re a sensitive and/or oily-combination skin type, these really do work!
Now let’s get into this skincare moment…
1) Aveda Botanical Kinetics Liquid Exfoliant
This product is perfect for those of us who are managing larger pores / blemishes / constant acne or simply just want to keep dead skin away!
Pro tip: If you work out a lot and find that you have (sweat-induced) body acne, a quick swipe of this product onto the area with a cotton bud WILL SAVE THE DAY. No lie!
2) Algenist Genius Anti-Aging Eye Cream
Fine lines and puffy under eyes be banished! There are a great many under eye creams out there, but none as smoothing or transformative as this one from Algenist. If you are looking for results that don’t just include the typical “green tea extract” and are providing permanent care for your delicate skin then definitely try this one out!
3) Algenist Genius Anti-Aging Moisturizer
Are you into vegan skincare products? There were quite a few people who responded to the call to action that expressed this sentiment! If you’re part of the crew and haven’t tried out Algenist, now is the time. Their vegan collagen that is used in this particular moisturizer definitely represents the “genius” claim that their packaging and advertising makes.
4) Algenist Sublime UV Defense Fluid SPF 50
Again with the Algenist! Honestly, they are a game changer. I first sampled their liquid lip collagen a year ago and have been hooked ever since. Their plant based collagen is such a high performance product. If you’re concerned with skin’s signs of aging give them a go!
Pro tip: SPF is the #1, most sure fire way to protect your skin from the harsh signs of maturing! This product is perfect for that, it’s light and leaves no residue on the skin. It hardly feels like SPF at all.
5) Touch In Sol No Pore Blem Essence
This skin perfecting serum-like fluid is wonderful during the day, prior to priming the face or putting on foundation / skin tint. I love the dewy + flawless look that it enhances underneath the Glossier skin tint!
6) Glossier Perfecting Skin Tint
My current shade in Glossier’s Perfecting Skin Tint is G9. I actually e-mailed Glossier asking for a shade recommendation, and they were spot-on! Definitely e-mail your selfie to them if you are interested in trying their skin tint! The formula is comparable to Giorgio Armani’s Maestro Fusion Makeup SPF 15 Foundation, without the matte effect. If you like dewy skin this is for you. The only thing (in my humble opinion) that needs a revamp is the applicator; you have to squeeze the bottle with a lot of force to extract your skin tint. Otherwise completely fabulous!
