Brow Lamination Review with Seela Eyebrow Threading in Anaheim, California

Have you tried to “fluff” your brows at home to no avail? Tried the soap on brows trick only to have a ton of soap on your eyebrows? (Because, same lol.) Have you considered microblading your brows, but aren’t ready to make the commitment? Well this blog post has the answer for you — BROW LAMINATION!

I recently discovered the brow lamination trend over a zoom conference hosted by the Beauty Merchandising & Product Development program at FIDM. The conference covered the burgeoning field of indie beauty and what to look forward to. Brow lamination has become pretty major, and a growing amount of companies are preparing to launch at-home kits. Brow lamination is essentially a “perm” or “permanent” where a multi step solution is applied to your eyebrows to break down the cuticle bonds in order to reshape them (or “perm” them) into a a fuller arch.

After the FIDM Beauty Merchandising & Product Development conference I was deadset on trying brow lamination and fortunately enough my favourite brow wiz, Seela of Seela Threading in Anaheim, California had the recipe! Seela offers brow lamination at $35.00. She recommends growing your eyebrows out enough to ensure there is a good amount of eye brow hair to work with, threading them for the most accurate shape, and then laminating. Seela also recommends that sparser brows be tinted in addition to eyebrow threading and lamination. The eyebrow tint provides an extra camouflage that sparse brows need to look absolutely perfect. I elected to tint my eyebrows in addition to threading and laminating due to having a scar and less hair (from a waxing accident) on my left eyebrow.

BEFORE eyebrow lamination! I had not had my eyebrows done since the start of the new year. I was actually due for an eyebrow clean-up when quarantine started. I had been using eyebrow razors to keep my brows from getting completely out of control during lockdown. When I knew that I was ready to try lamination I did not touch them for a week, in hopes of the fullest brows possible! Do you like big brows and cannot lie? (LOL!)

AFTER 45 minutes of eyebrow threading, lamination processing, and tinting I felt like a brand new woman leaving Seela Eyebrow Threading in Anaheim, California! Seela recommends having laminated eyebrows touched up every 6-8 weeks, depending on your hair growth cycle / what your lifestyle preferences are. She also recommends using a hydrating oil on your brows twice daily. Brow lamination chemically alters your eyebrow hair, it is preferential to treat your eyebrows as you would the hair on your head! Just like having your hair enlightened (or bleached), you need to ensure that you are protecting the hair so that it can withstand more than one chemical treatment.

FOUR DAYS LATER and I am completely smitten with my brows. I no longer have to fuss over them or try to correct them with makeup. For aftercare I have decided to wash and condition my eyebrows every other day with Olaplex shampoo and conditioner. At the start of everyday I use Olaplex No 7 Bonding Oil, and in the evening I use Moroccan Oil Light Oil. Seela recommended using a spoolie to ensure every hair is coated and hydrated. I ensure to do this every time I touch my new brows at all! My background as a hairstylist has helped me to formulate a pretty good plan for my brows. You should definitely try Olaplex No 7 Bonding Oil on your eyebrows if you’ve had them laminated. Perms can be very aggressive, so you truly want to ensure that your brows are as protected as possible, especially if you do plan to continue having your brows laminated in the future!
