Bre of Hungry Hipsters Cowgirl Copper Hair | Fall Hair | Hair Color Formula

The ASK (Consultation Notes):

Bre had spent the last decade or so focusing on lived-in hair that felt more natural and sunkissed, so she was ready for a change. We had fun experimenting this year by playing with different tones within the same color family and placements ranging from subtle to bold to hone in on what would inevitably become the best fit for her.

Maintaining the integrity of Bre’s hair, especially length, was the central focus besides color and placement.

The Placement:

After wearing a bold 90s-inspired placement with a 70s-inspired color, Bre was ready to say goodbye to foils and hello to a global, solid color that felt luxurious. Quiet luxury and Old Money are two key ideas that guided our results.

A global, four-quadrant placement was the name of the game. Lightener was applied throughout the mids first (virgin color application), especially in areas with previous hair color. Following this, Bre’s hair was sectioned into the classic four-quadrant color application.

The Formula:

Formula A (lightener) 40G Schwarzkopf BlondMe Lightener + 80G Schwarzkopf BlondMe 7V Developer
Dilute the lightener with the developer to control the lift, especially on longer lengths that don’t require 3+ levels of lift.

Formula B (regrowth) 30G 6-77 Igora Royal Color + 10G 7-57 Igora Royal Color + 4G 6-6 Igora Royal Color + 1G 0-11 Igora Royal Color + 45G 10V Igora Royal Color Developer

Formula C (mids/ends) 30G 7-77  Igora Royal Color + 10G 7-57 Igora Royal Color + 4G 6-6  Igora Royal Color + 1G 0-11 Igora Royal Color + 45G 15V Igora Royal Color Developer
15V is 1:1 of 10V and 20V developer.
You may need to add more 0-11 to your formula depending on how your client’s hair initially lifts.

The Technique and Process:

Before applying any lightener or color, we saturated Bre’s hair and scalp with K18 Biomimetic Hair Mist and Schwarzkopf Scalp Protect.

My assistant, Ashley, was crucial to the lifting and coloring process. She helped ensure all sections were saturated and new bowls of lightener were readily available while we raced to provide an even lift and deposit.

We applied Formula A to Bre’s mids first. Once we were happy with the lift and saturation of the mids, we moved to her regrowth area and followed up with her ends. Since Bre’s ends were already at the right level, we only aimed to open the cuticle with some lightener during the last few minutes of processing.

We shampooed Bre’s hair with Amika Velveteen Dream shampoo and followed up with the K18 Leave-In Molecular Repair Hair Mask.

We dried Bre’s hair with a Dyson Hair dryer to apply Schwarzkopf’s Scalp Protect and Hair Primer before applying her final color formulas.

Formula B (regrowth) was applied first and left to process for 15 minutes before Formula C (mids/ends) at 30 minutes.

We followed up with a final service of Amika Velveteen Dream shampoo and the K18 Leave-In Molecular Repair Hair Mask.

Achieve Bre’s sleek and bouncy blowout with Cricket round brushes, Biolage Smooth Proof Shine Milk + Hydra Source Blowdry Shaping Lotion, and Moroccanoil Hair Treatment.  After round brushing, use a ¼” T3 Micro curling iron and double prong clips to add subtle texture to the hair. After cooling, smooth the hair with a Denman brush and Maria Nila Power Powder.

I used a Kasho Razor to cut Bre’s hair.
